Wuhan is the capital and megacity of Hubei Province, the only sub-provincial city in the six central provinces, a central city in central China approved by the State Council, and an important national industrial base, science and education base and comprehensive transportation hub. Wuhan City is located in the eastern part of Hubei Province, where the Yangtze River and Hanshui River intersect. Its geographical location is 29°58′—31°22′ north latitude and 113°41′—115°05′ east longitude. The largest horizontal distance of Wuhan is 134 kilometers from east to west, and the largest vertical distance from north to south is about 155 kilometers.
