In 1993, the predecessor of the fair, the first "China International Expo of Prosthetics and Orthotics and Rehabilitation Devices", was successfully held in Wuhan. Yi Xianrong, deputy director of the Provincial Civil Affairs Department, introduced at the meeting that the development of rehabilitation AIDS industry in Hubei Province started earlier. At present, relying on the advantages of Wuhan's urban industrial agglomeration, the rehabilitation AIDS Industrial Park has been built in East Lake High-tech Zone, and has formed a "one-stop" whole industry chain service system such as product display, science popularization and education, evaluation and adaptation, rehabilitation training, inspection and testing, research and development and promotion, standard development, skill training, and industrial incubation, which drives the development of the rehabilitation AIDS industry in the province with the advantages of industrial clusters. Wuhan is building a "new highland" of national comprehensive innovation in rehabilitation AIDS industry

In 2021, Wuhan will start the renovation of elderly homes suitable for aging, and build family nursing beds in all districts to actively explore home nursing.
