When you are old, how to have a decent old age has become a problem that more and more people begin to consider. According to the report of the office of the National Working Committee on aging, by the end of 2019, China's population aged 60 and over had reached 254 million. It is expected that by 2053, China's elderly population will reach a peak of 487 million, accounting for 34.9% of the total population, that is, one in three people is elderly.

There is another data worthy of attention: more than 40 million! This is the number of disabled and semi disabled elderly in China, and this number is still growing.

In the 2018-2019 China long term care research report jointly released by the China Insurance Industry Association and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, there is such a group of data that 4.8% of the elderly are severely disabled in daily activities, 7% are moderately disabled, and the total disability rate is 11.8%.

In other words, more than one tenth of the elderly can't take care of themselves in terms of dressing, eating, bathing and toilet. The decline of basic self-care ability is also accompanied by the degradation of independent living ability. 25.4% of the elderly need comprehensive care.

According to the data of the National Medical Security Bureau, by the end of June 2019, the number of long-term care insurance participants had reached 88.54 million, the number of people enjoying treatment was 426000, and the annual per capita fund payment was more than 9200 yuan.

The lack of long-term care security for disabled people has become an urgent social problem to be solved, and long-term care insurance is a major institutional arrangement for China to actively deal with population aging. We also look forward to the increasingly perfect insurance system closely related to everyone and benefit more people.
