In order to implement the national strategy of actively responding to population aging, develop the elderly care industry and the elderly care industry, the first Guangzhou Smart Health Care (Suitable for the Elderly) Equipment Innovation Design Competition jointly organized by the Guangzhou Civil Affairs Bureau and the Huangpu District Government officially kicked off on November 17th at the Guangzhou Poly World Trade Expo.

This design competition is guided by the China Aging Association and the China Machinery Industry Federation, hosted by the Guangzhou Civil Affairs Bureau and the Huangpu District People's Government, and jointly organized by the Huangpu District Civil Affairs Bureau, Huangpu District Industry and Information Technology Bureau, and Huangpu District Health Bureau.

Integrate wisdom and strength to create a smart and healthy Huangpu model

In recent years, Guangzhou has been designated by the state as a pilot area for comprehensive reform of the national elderly care service industry, central financial support for home and community elderly care service reform, integration of medical and elderly care, and community rental of rehabilitation aids. The construction of the elderly care service system has been supervised and encouraged by the State Council for two consecutive years.

With the severe challenges brought by the aging population to the traditional elderly care industry, smart health care will become an important means to actively respond to the aging population, alleviate the shortage of elderly care service resources, mismatch between supply and demand, and other issues.

From 'care for the elderly' to 'health for the elderly', from catering to medical treatment, from travel to accompanying treatment, from nursing to health care, health care equipment products for the elderly integrate the elderly, communities, medical staff, medical service institutions, governments, etc. into an organic whole through advanced technological means, achieving information and resource sharing.

Huangpu District has a group of large-scale smart elderly equipment enterprises for health and wellness, with unique industrial resources and talent reserves, complete intellectual property and financial service policies, and the conditions and foundation to lead the aggregation and scale development of the health and wellness elderly equipment industry, and promote high-quality development of the elderly care industry.

This design competition takes Huangpu District as the starting point, gathering high-end enterprises and design elites from both domestic and foreign industries, bringing together more new products, services, and concepts. Through the coordinated efforts of the government and the market, it promotes the innovative research and development of aging intelligent technology equipment, promotes the coordinated development of elderly care and the elderly care industry, and creates a Huangpu sample that actively responds to population aging through the high-quality development of technology and manufacturing real economy.

Huangpu District has simultaneously built the first two Guangzhou Smart Health Equipment Exhibition and Experience Centers in Liandong U Valley Yihang Intelligent Technology Park and Lingnan Health Valley, which were listed and put into use on the same day of the press conference. The Smart Health Care (Elderly Fit) Equipment Exhibition and Experience Center located in the Liandong U Valley Yihang Intelligent Technology Park in Huangpu District showcases various intelligent elderly care products and equipment, and provides practical experience opportunities for the elderly to use. Through first-hand experience, visitors can experience more realistic usage scenarios; The Smart Health and Wellness Equipment Exhibition and Experience Center located in Lingnan Health Valley, Huangpu District is divided into intelligent elderly product exhibition area, scene exhibition area, elderly care scene experience area, and rehabilitation training area. It is positioned as a research and development, marketing e-commerce live streaming base.

Focusing on Innovation and Grasping the "New Track" of Smart Health Care

This design competition was launched on November 17, 2023, and will continue to solicit works nationwide and overseas until January 2024. It will be divided into three stages: project solicitation, preliminary review, and final review.

The organizing committee of the competition will invite experts from both domestic and foreign fields such as elderly care, rehabilitation equipment, and industrial design to assist in this event. The expert review team for this event covers well-known domestic research institutions, medical institutions, higher education institutions, investment institutions, industry associations, and other fields. It is understood that the entries need to utilize modern intelligence, information technology, and other new technologies to meet and enhance the aspirations of the elderly, disabled, and other individuals with rehabilitation needs for a better life.

In terms of awards, this design competition is divided into two groups: innovative design and product innovation, targeting original design concept works that have not been put into commercial use or mass production and marketing, as well as various innovative products that have been put into commercial use or mass production and marketing.

The work will be evaluated by experts and selected with 10 Product Innovation Awards, 10 Innovation Design Awards, and 10 winners in each category. Three Best Popularity Awards will be selected through online evaluation. For the award-winning works, the organizing committee of the competition will also provide a series of follow-up support, providing docking services such as achievement transformation and media promotion support for the award-winning works. Among them, innovative design award-winning works and products will also receive docking services such as research and development and production docking, product finance docking, authoritative elderly care product catalog recommendation, and intellectual property protection.

The smart health and wellness industry is an important development direction for the future elderly care industry. The organizers hope to establish a creative design competition platform to stimulate innovation, promote industry exchanges, attract relevant industry clusters and scale development, seize the new track and new wind direction of the elderly care industry, and strive to build the Huangpu Smart Health and Wellness Elderly Equipment Innovation Center, R&D Center, Production and Manufacturing Center, and Trade Center.
